Keeping It Up to Date
You keep Oniomarchy up to date the same way you keep Omarchy up to date:
omarchy update
That’s the whole thing. There is no second command to remember.
What one update covers
- Every package, including all your security tools. Oniomarchy’s tools come from its own signed package repository, so a newer build of any of them arrives with the rest of the system.
- Oniomarchy itself. Right after the packages, Omarchy hands over to Oniomarchy, which checks for a new release. New tools, new menu entries, new bar plugins and new artwork land then, under the heading Update Oniomarchy.
- The bar plugins — Tor, MAC and GoDark — update in the same pass. They update without asking anything, and their new changes are listed as they land.
When there’s nothing new on the Oniomarchy side, it says so and adds about a second to the update. When there is, the installer runs again, with the same live progress line and summary you saw on your first install. It only installs what’s new or changed; it never removes a tool or touches your own settings.
It doesn’t matter where you cloned Oniomarchy to install it, or whether you still have that folder: updates don’t depend on it.
The tool set you chose stays chosen
If you installed more than the default core — say --pack sdr, or everything with
--pack all — updates keep all of it current, including tools that get added to those
packs later. You don’t have to remember what you picked.
Updating Oniomarchy on its own
To pull the latest Oniomarchy without updating the rest of the system:
oniomarchy update
It does the same Oniomarchy step that omarchy update runs, and nothing else.
Turning automatic updates off
If you’d rather Oniomarchy never update itself during omarchy update — for example
on a machine where you’re working on Oniomarchy itself and install from your own copy —
create this file:
mkdir -p ~/.config/oniomarchy && touch ~/.config/oniomarchy/no-auto-update
omarchy update will then say it skipped Oniomarchy and carry on with everything
else. Delete the file to turn updates back on; oniomarchy update still works either
way.
